Description
Franchi, Celso 1905 – 1997
City of activity: Ravenna
He started making violins when he was 17 years old. His workmanship is good and follows the Romagna school. He used classical models. The arching is quite full; the rather wide f-holes have big sound holes and notches. He sets the purfling close to the edge. The choice of wood is always good. His nice varnish is usually orange brown. Franchi is almost unknown in the market, even though he made quite interesting instruments.
